1) simple sentence: contains one subject slot and one predicate slot; is one MAIN CLAUSE. ex. Zach got a book today.
2). compound sentence: contains two or more MAIN clauses. EX. Zach got a book today, AND he read it.
3) complex sentence: contains at least one DEPENDENT CLAUSE, and one main clause. EX. Zach got a book today BECAUSE I asked him to.
