Classwork...
Considering that we will begin Macbeth after our unit "Quest" on Wednesday, we took some time today to analyze David Cameron's passionate speech begging the Scots to vote "no" to succession from the United Kingdom on Thursday.

We used the Rhetorical Triangle to analyze Cameron's speech, and we found a number of things to be true:
- Cameron's appeal to emotion (pathos) seemed to dominate the speech: "family, rip apart, heartbroken, etc."
- Many of Cameron's claims did not appear to be claims that were logically verifiable. "Greatest democracy in the world..." "Scots put the 'great' in Great Britain," etc.
- Overall, we saw that Cameron's speech used strategies to meet the purpose of his speech: to convince a group of people to stay in a relationship they are considering leaving.
- Scotland is an apropos subject, considering that Shakespeare's play, Macbeth also deals with desires and speeches, etc.
